About Us
"SNIP" was founded in 2023 in the city of Lviv by us: artist Lilia Luchyshyn-Maksymyuk and folklorist Marta Yasinська.
Once, a "magical combination" of our creative forces took place. Thanks to our partnership, we set up the straw workshop SNIP, where we make straw products and construction sets for making spiders, as well as run masterclasses and develop original spiders.
I’m Lilia and I have been thinking about creating a product that speaks to modern people while drawing on ancient traditions for a few years now. I've also taught lots of workshops on how to make spiders.
I’m Marta and I’m engaged in researching traditional culture, as well as managing educational and cultural projects that familiarize people with traditions and customs.
We're working on a way to make the straw spider a year-round decoration, not just a seasonal one, to fit in with modern spaces. It's important for us that our straw products attract foreign admirers with Ukrainian culture and show that we're connected to the European tradition of straw weaving.
We believe that the best way to feel warmth is to spend time with the people we love most: our family and friends. And traditions bring people together through shared activities.
